Frequently Asked Questions

General

What exactly is a slat mill? Is it safe?

A slat mill is a non-motorized treadmill designed specifically for dogs. Unlike motorized treadmills, it moves only when your dog moves, so they control the pace. It is safe, self-regulating, and designed to reduce strain on joints while giving dogs the chance to move freely in a focused, predictable way. No force. No chaos. Just movement with purpose.

How is this different from a walk or daycare?

Most walks and daycare environments are full of distractions, stimulation, and unpredictability. RunTinTin sessions are private, mobile, and focused. There is no leash tension, group energy, or social pressure. It is just your dog, structure, and movement, ideal for dogs who are reactive, anxious, or simply need a clear job to do.

DOG FIT + ELIGIBILITY

What kinds of dogs is this for?

Our service is ideal for high-drive, anxious, reactive, or under-stimulated dogs. It is also great for dogs who do not do well in groups, who struggle to relax at home, or who need a consistent outlet for physical and mental decompression. All breeds and sizes are welcome, as long as your dog can safely be handled and physically tolerate structured movement.

Are there any dogs you don’t work with?

Yes. We do not work with dogs who show aggression toward humans or with dogs who have serious medical issues that prevent moderate physical activity. Dogs must be handled by a solo professional, without multi-person handoff. If you are unsure, complete the Intake Form and we will review everything and let you know if it is a fit.

LOGISTICS & SCHEDULING

How long is each session?

Each session is roughly 30 minutes total. That includes pickup, run time, and cooldown. Slat mill time varies depending on your dog’s condition, energy, stress level, and history with us. New dogs start slow and build up over time.

Do I need to be home?

No. As long as we have a safe and reliable way to access your dog, such as a garage code or gate entry, we can do fully contactless pickups. We confirm logistics before your first session and keep everything consistent going forward.

Can you come to my office?

Yes. One thing to note is that we arrive with a trailer, so we will need a level place to park. If your home is on a hill, we can arrange to meet you at a nearby location, or at a family member or friend’s home.

Do you work with other dogs at the same time?

We can accommodate up to three or four dogs in a session. If we are running four dogs, the session will be about an hour total, as the last dog rotates in after the first finishes. With three dogs, the session will be about 45 minutes. Each dog receives personalized attention. We never run your dog with anybody else’s. We only handle multiple dogs owned by the same family, or in some cases, if you and a friend have dogs who are compatible and want to book together, we may be able to accommodate that.

PAYMENT & PROCESS

How does payment work?

We keep it simple. Before each session, you receive a payment link or invoice. You can pay via Venmo, CashApp, or Zelle. Payment is required at least 24 hours in advance.

Do you offer packages or discounts?

Yes. Our single-session price is discounted if you buy a month of runs, booked at the same time. We also offer multi-dog discounts when they run together in one session.

What’s your cancellation policy?

We ask for 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged a fee depending on the situation. We understand that life happens, so we just ask that you keep us in the loop.

SAFETY & PHILOSOPHY

Will this make my dog more hyped up or reactive?

No. Unlike chaotic play or overstimulating activities, slat mill running is repetitive, structured, and soothing. It allows your dog to release energy while regulating their nervous system. The goal is not exhaustion, but decompression.

What results should I expect?

Most clients report a calmer, more settled dog, not just right after a session but overall. Dogs start learning to regulate themselves through predictable output. It is not magic, but it is effective, especially for dogs who thrive with structure over stimulation.

What if my dog doesn’t want to run for 20 minutes?

We do not have a set time or pace for your dog. A typical run includes a warm-up, a little fast, then slower, perhaps a trot, then a dash. We listen to your dog and adjust. Body language, energy, and our own judgment guide how we move through the session with your dog.

Still have questions?
That’s okay, we’re here to help.

But if this sounds like the outlet your dog’s been missing, let’s get started. The Intake Form takes just a few minutes, and from there, we will handle the rest.
