BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control says it has 90 dogs and 15 cats that need immediate adoption. If the animals aren’t adopted, they may be euthanized.
Animal Care and Control issued this statement:
Palm Beach County’s Animal Care and Control (ACC) Division needs adopters and foster parents to check out the amazing dogs and cuddly cats. Overcrowding has been a very serious problem at ACC for several weeks, and is getting worse with the start of kitten season. While the shelter is faced daily with increasing numbers of dogs and cats in its care, adoptions are at an all-time low.
Rescue Placement Partners have been instrumental in helping the shelter find homes, but they too are faced with overcrowding and are saturated with pets. At this point, the answer to reducing the shelter population is for the public adoptions and fosters to increase in order to relieve the overcrowding and get dogs, cats and kittens placed into both temporary and permanent loving homes.
Fostering is easy and doesn’t require a long-term commitment. The pet is sent home with food, a leash and collar and a crate. The shelter has about 90 diverse dogs and 15 cats available immediately for adoption or fostering. The Palm Beach County shelter has dogs and cats that would be a good fit for any lifestyle, from the quiet and relaxed to the active and outdoorsy. Although it may look like there aren’t many cats and kittens in the adoption area, there are about 120 kittens waiting in the back to gain enough weight to go to new homes.
Unfortunately, without the public’s help to reduce the shelter numbers, some beautiful pets may not make it out of the shelter alive. Anyone who has been considering adopting is encouraged to please come to the shelter today, and see all the wonderful dogs and cats that are available. Adopting today literally means saving two lives – the one being adopted and the one that will be coming in to take its place in the shelter system.
Check out the website to find out more about adoptions, and visit the Surf the Net About a Pet (SNAP) page to see pictures of pets that are ready to go home today. The Animal Care and Control adoption center is located at 7100 Belvedere Road, West Palm Beach.
